Abstract
This contribution proposes clarification that wPSNR shall be used for HDR PQ content and PSNR shall be used for HDR HLG content when reporting objective HDR metrics in responses to the Call for Proposals on video compression with capability beyond VVC and no average between these metrics to be reported. This proposal is aligned with JVET-AM0287 On HDR coding and metrics and JVET-AC2011 Common Test Conditions for HDR/WCG.
JVET-AO0184 AHG17: Reporting on HDR coding metrics [W. Husak, T. Nguyen Canh, P. Yin (Dolby), D. Rusanovskyy (Nokia)]

It is also proposed to update the text of the Common Test Conditions for HDR/WCG by removing the requirements for deltaE100 and PSNRL100 metrics reporting of HDR QP content.

It was agreed that this should be made clearer in the CfP. The best solution would be to put all HLG sequences (regardless if they are 4K or cropped 8K) into one category, and all PQ content into another category. This means that also the naming conventions need an update.

Abstract
This contribution proposes updates of the CfE document related to HDR content testing. The main proposal is to split HDR PQ and HDR HLG into two different categories, considering that the transfer function is a differentiator at least as important as the picture resolution. Suggestions to clarify in the CfE document the information on VTM/ECM compilation process and configuration needed for deriving the HDR metrics are also proposed. It is also suggested to incorporate the HDR metrics description from Annex C of the VTM/HM HDR CTC document JVET-AC2011, or at least to refer to its Annex. And finally, an analysis of the HDR metrics over a number of test sequences and CfE coding conditions is presented in this document to discuss whether PSNRL100 and DeltaE100 metrics may be considered redundant and be removed from the requirements on responses to the CfE.
JVET-AM0287 [AHG17] On HDR coding and metrics [D. Rusanovskyy (Nokia), E. François (InterDigital)] [late]

To be discussed in BoG.

When HDR metrics would be defined differently, care should be taken that there is no divergence regarding the reference to JVET-AC2011.

Abstract
This contribution presents a summary of a gap analysis carried out with respect to existing MPEG/VCEG video coding standards. The contribution also provides suggestions for updates of “Preliminary draft of use cases and requirements for potential next-generation video coding standard beyond VVC capability” based on the gap analysis.
JVET-AK0338 Gap analysis and suggested updates to next-generation video coding requirements draft [J. Samuelsson-Allendes, S. Deshpande, T. Ikai (Sharp)] [late] It was suggested to establish a joint AHG with the following mandates: Consider and summarize input from workshop Suggest refinements of draft requirements Review m71221, m71598 (also available as JVET) Collect and study additional contributions on requirements (to be provided to both orgs) Mary-Luc Champel (a WG 2 member from Xiaomi) and Justin Ridge (an SG21 vice chair and WP3/21 co-chair, Nokia/USA) were planned to be the co-chairs of this AHG, which was agreed could hold teleconference meetings (with at least two weeks advance notice). This was agreed in the joint meeting, but it was not reflected in the AHG plans established in the meeting recommendations of MPEG WG2 (apparently by accident). WG 2 did establish an “AhG on MP...

JVET-AJ0372 BoG Report: Group of ECM tools with large memory access [X. Li (BoG chair)] This was presented Thu 7 Nov. 1515 This document contains the report of the BoG on group of tools with large memory access. The BoG met on 11/6 Wednesday 10:15am –11:35am. Mandates With regard to AHG7 activities, it was agreed to establish a new group of tools with large memory access, e.g by needing large lookup tables. It is however also necessary to take into account the granularity of usage, e.g. it is different if a large amount of coefficient values needs to be reloaded for every 4x4 block or for an entire CTU. This BoG was to further work on criteria, and set up a list of tools that would be added to such a group. Recommendations Tool list PDP Enhanced MTS LFNST extension NSPT Fixed filter in ALF Cfg Options (For tools which extended the tools in VVC, the group off test should only turn off the...

Abstract
The JVET established the VVC Test Model 2 (VTM2) software at its 3 meeting (-2 2023, ). This document serves as a source of general tutorial information on the VVC design and also provides an algorithm description and encoding method description of VTM2 software. It is noted that, as no update of the algorithm description document was released at the 27thJVET meeting, the numbering of the VTM software version is higher than that of this description document. In the main body of the text, numbering refers to the software version. The VVC has been developed by a joint collaborative team of ITU-T and ISO/IEC experts known as the Joint Video Experts Team (JVET), which is a partnership of ITU-T Study Group 16 Question 6 (known as VCEG) and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/WG 11 (known as MPEG). This new standard has been designed with two primary goals. The first of these is to specify a video coding technology with a compression capability that is substantially beyond that of the prior generations of such standards, and the second is for this technology to be highly versatile for effective use in a broadened range of applications. In addition to the applications that have commonly been addressed by prior video coding standards, some key application areas for the use of this standard include in particular ultra-high-definition video (e.g., with 3840×2160 or 7620×4320 picture resolution and bit depth of 10 or 12 bits as specified in Rec. ITU-R BT.2100), video with a high dynamic range and wide colour gamut (e.g., with the perceptual quantization or hybrid log-gamma transfer characteristics specified in Rec. ITU-R BT.2100), and video for immersive media applications such as 360° omnidirectional video projected using a common projection format such as the equirectangular or cubemap projection format.
