Abstract
This contribution verifies the performance of a fast encoding method proposed by Sharp (JVET-E0053). The proposed method makes a depth threshold, which prevents further partitioning, dependant on the reference frame distance. Those modifications provide up to 12% complexity reduction for +0.23% Y BD-rate loss in Random Access (RA) configuration over JEM 4.0.
