Frame_field_info text combining JVET-O0041, JVET-O0042, and JVET-O0043
Abstract
This text combines the changes necessary to combine JVET-O0041 and JVET-O0042 as per the decisions made in HLS BoG (JVET-O1076). Version 2 of this document reflects decisions made in the JVET track Gary session on Thursday 11 July 2019: in particular, that the official Annex C output process does not output repeated pictures. Repetition is relegated to an external process outside the scope of VVC. However, in real decoder systems, the repetition and picture display order information provided from frame_field_info would be necessary to convey pictures from the decoder output process to a common (often system mandatory) display connection, such as HDMI. Version 3 of this documents makes further refinements, and adds an annotated Figure C.2 from the VVC spec. in a companion powerpoint file to depict the dividing line between the normative output process and non-normative, external picture repetition.
