Abstract
Bi-directional optical flow (BDOF) is included in the VVC to enhance the granularity and accuracy of the motion vectors (MVs) used for motion compensation. Additionally, in the current BDOF design, the number of bitwise right shifts, which are applied to calculate certain intermediate parameters, is determined based on the internal bit-depth ranging from 8-bit to 12-bit.
