JVET-AQ1017 Updates of HEVC reference software (draft 1) [K. Sühring, F. Bossen, A. Tourapis] (2026-07-31)

Integration of new software developed in context of new multiview profiles, and support for SEI messages in VSEIv4.
It is planned to integrate new software elements developed in the context of multiview profiles into HM, and convert it into a new edition of ISO/IEC 23008-5 (together with previous Amd.1, where SCC will still coexist as separate software package), to be submitted for CD ballot as WG 5 N 413. A Request WG 5 N 412 was reviewed and approved on Wednesday 15 July 1205.
Progression into H.265.2 planned for April 2027
It is asserted that enabling signalling 444 multiview profiles might be added in case that they would be included in a new edition/version of HEVC by April 2027. Also, an integration of SHVC support into HM (as per JVET-AQ0187) would be desirable for DIS or FDIS stage, to remove the separate SHM software package from the reference software specification
