JVET-Q0791 AHG4: Multiformat Berlin Test Sequences [B. Bross, H. Kirchhoffer, C. Bartnik, M. Palkow, D. Marpe (HHI)]
Eight new test sequences are proposed to be evaluated for potential use in standardization, e.g. for verification testing and conformance bitstreams. All sequences have been shot in Berlin with a RED DSMC2 camera and recorded in 7680x4320 resolution at 60fps. The raw video with Log3G10 transfer characteristics and REDWideGamutRGB colour space have been post-processed to obtain TIFF files with SDR BT.709 transfer characteristics and colour space using the REDCINE-X PRO software. The TIFF files have been further processed using HDRTools to convert them into YUV 4:2:0 10-bit video for encoding with HM and VTM. Three different resolutions have been produced, 3840x2160 (UHD) and 1920x1080 (HD) by simply downsampling and 3840x2160 (cropped 8k) by cropping an UHD part out of the 7680x4320 video keeping the 8K resolution. From the raw format, HDR gradings can be generated as well. All eight sequences in the three different resolutions have been coded with HM-16.20 and VTM-7.0.
