Non-CE4: On weight values of the chroma-component for TPM mode
Abstract
In current TPM mode, edge between two blocks is blended with derived weight values. The weight values of two direction are symmetric for luma-component but not for chroma-component. Specifically, for chroma-component, samples on edge may have different weight values according to the given direction. In this contribution, in order to align the chroma weight values for two direction to use the equal weight value for samples on edge, weight values of the chroma-component are derived with proposed shifted-sub-sampling method. The experimental results reportedly show 0.01%, -0.02% BD-rate changes with no encoding and decoding run-time changes compared to VTM7.0 as anchor in RA, LB configurations.
