This contribution describes an intra prediction tool which considers multiple non-overlapping sub-partitions for the directional intra prediction of luma blocks, with slightly different directions, while keeping the entire parent block structure for transform and entropy coding. On top of VTM-4.0, the simulation results reportedly show luma BD-rate variation of -0.11% and -0.05% on average in All Intra (AI) and Random Access (RA) configuration.
