In this contribution, it is proposed to signal reference line index before intra prediction mode and only most probable mode (MPM) is allowed for non-zero reference line index. Moreover, Planar and DC modes are excluded from the MPM list derivation for non-zero reference line index. Simulation results reportedly show that, average -0.43% and -0.19% BD-rate is achieved on top of VTM-1.0 under all intra (AI) and random access (RA) configurations, and -0.32% and -0.14% BD-rate is achieved on top of BMS-1.0 under AI and RA configurations, respectively. When Intra65Ang is enabled, average -0.61% and -0.29% BD-rate is achieved on top of VTM-1.0 under AI and RA configurations, respectively.
