CE6: DST-VII with residual flipping (Test 1.4)
Abstract
This contribution reports the experimental results of CE6-1.4 test proposed in call for proposal (CfP) response document of JVET-J0013. In CE6-1.4 test, DST-VII with residual flipping is tested in order to reduce the required memory size for storing transform matrix compared to adaptive multiple transform (AMT) in benchmark set (BMS). The CE6-1.4 method reportedly saves about 60% of memory for transform matrix compared to AMT and 75% of memory for additional transform matrix in addition to DCT-II compared to AMT. The experimental results reportedly show average BD-rates of -3.24%, -2.06%, and -1.49% with encoding/decoding time of 198%/120%, 163%/109%, and 163%/111% for AI, RA, and LDB cases, respectively, compared to VTM 1.1 anchor. And, the experimental results reportedly show average BD-rates of 0.25%, 0.13%, and 0.01% with encoding/decoding time of 94%/99%, 96%/100%, and 98%/100% for AI, RA, and LDB cases, respectively, compared to BMS 1.1 anchor.
