Non-CE5: Suggested text changes for ALF padding process
Abstract
This contribution provides suggested text changes regarding ALF padding process.
JVET-P1038 Non-CE5: Suggested text changes for ALF padding process [H. Liu, L. Zhang, K. Zhang, J. Xu, Y. Wang (Bytedance), N. Hu, V. Seregin, M. Coban, A. K. Ramasubramonian, M. Karczewicz (Qualcomm), C. Lai, O. Chubach, L. Chen, C. Che, T. Chuang, C. Hsu, Y. Huang, S. Lei (MediaTek), M. Zhou (Broadcom)] [late]
The following aspects regarding ALF padding are proposed in this contribution which also cover the Method 2 in JVET-P0551, method 4 in JVET-P0157, the first aspect of JVET-P0053, the determination of unavailable samples in JVET-P0492 and JVET-P0492, the first aspect in JVET-P0158.
- Apply repetitive padding for all boundaries excluding virtual boundaries for ALF line buffer reduction as per method 2 in JVET-P0551, method 4 in JVET-P0157, and the first aspect of JVET-P0053.
- applying ALF VB to all CTU in a picture, including the bottom CTU row as per JVET-P0158
- Use horizontal repetitive padding for filling unavailable samples
- For cases of filtering with repetitive padding, the classification padding should be the same as currently in the cases of repetitive padding (e.g. as at the picture boundary). ALF virtual boundary classification should not be changed.
