Non-CE9: Restriction on motion vector refinement in BDOF
Abstract
In Bi-Direction Optical Flow (BDOF), two multiplications per sample are required to derive a sample adjustment. This contribution proposes to restrict the motion vector refinement to be in a form of +2N or -2N (N is an integer). In this way, the two multiplications can be replaced by two shifts when calculating the sample adjustment. Simulation results reportedly show -0.01%, -0.05% and -0.02% BD-rate changing under RA configurations for Y, Cb and Cr component, respectively.
