CE2-1.1: Interweaved Prediction for Affine Motion Compensation
Abstract
In this contribution, an interweaved prediction approach is proposed for affine motion compensation (AMC). With the interweaved prediction, a coding block is divided into sub-blocks with two different dividing patterns. Then two auxiliary predictions are generated by AMC with the two dividing patterns. The final prediction is calculated as a weighted-sum of the two auxiliary predictions. Interweaved prediction is only applied on uni-prediction and cannot cross a VPDU boundary. Four tests are conducted in this contribution. In CE2-1.1.a, interweaved prediction is applied on luma component only. In CE2-1.1.b, interweaved prediction is applied on both luma and chroma components. In CE2-1.1.c, a combined test of CE2-1.1.a and short-tap interpolation filtering proposed in CE2-4.6 is conducted. In CE2-1.1.d, a combined test of CE2-1.1.a and bandwidth constraint method proposed in CE2-4.8.a is conducted. Simulation results are reported as below:
