CE12: report of CE12-1 on out-of-loop dynamic range adaptation
Abstract
The contribution reports results from CE12-1 on out-of-loop mapping for HDR content. Proposed dynamic range adaptation (DRA) is applied on input video data, Y’CbCr 4:2:0 picture (10 bits per sample) prior to coding (pre-processing). Inverse DRA is implemented after decoding loop as a post-processing (output process). The complete DRA design includes three parts: DRA mapping, chroma sample refinement, harmonization of DRA scaling with coding QP. Main change compared to the previous CE12 of JVET-11 meeting relates to the luma/chroma distribution that has been balanced in the same way as the anchor.
