CE4 Ultimate motion vector expression (Test 4.5.4)
Abstract
This contribution presents ultimate motion vector expression (UMVE) proposed in JVET-K0115. UMVE is a motion vector expression method for skip and merge modes. Based on the UMVE proposed in JVET-K0115, in this contribution three tests are conducted; (Test 4.5.4 (a)) UMVE mode uses one of VVC merge candidates as a base motion vector, (Test 4.5.4 (b)) UMVE mode uses two of VVC merge candidates as a base motion vector, (Test 4.5.4 (c)) UMVE mode uses four of VVC merge candidates as a base motion vector. When the simulation for three tests are conducted based on VTM, results reportedly show -0.92% BD-rate with 103% and 99% encoding and decoding time under RA condition, and -0.21% BD-rate with 103% and 98% encoding and decoding time under LDB condition for Test 4.5.4 (a), -1.29% BD-rate with 108% and 98% encoding and decoding time under RA condition, and -0.37% BD-rate with 106% and 98% encoding and decoding time under LDB condition for Test 4.5.4 (b), -1.35% BD-rate with 116% and 98% encoding and decoding time under RA condition, and -0.37% BD-rate with 113% and 97% encoding and decoding time under LDB condition for Test 4.5.4 (c).
