CE3.5: Multiple Reference Intra Prediction (tests 5.2.1 and 5.2.2)
Abstract
This contribution reports results of CE3.5.2, related to Multiple Reference sample-based Intra Prediction (MRIP) and Boundary Filtering (BF), described in JVET-J0022, implemented within the JVET BMS-1.0. For MRIP alone (CE3 test 5.2.1), simulation results reportedly show an average luma BD-rate variation of -0.31%, resp. -0.18%, in All Intra (AI), resp. Random Access (RA) configuration, compared with VTM, and -0.21%, resp. -0.10%, in AI, resp. RA, configuration, compared to BMS. For MRIP+BF (CE3 test 5.2.2) simulation results show an average luma BD-rate variation of -0.91%, resp. -0.44%, in All Intra (AI), resp. Random Access (RA) configuration, compared with VTM, and -0.97%, resp. -0.49%, in AI, resp. RA, configuration, compared to BMS.
