AHG8: A study on quality impact of line re-sampling rate in EAP

Abstract
This contribution studied the quality impact of line re-sampling resolution in the Equal Area projection (EAP), and introduced a line re-sampling resolution control parameter to improve the EAP performance. Experimental results per the 360 video common test conditions revealed that the modified EAP outperforms the ERP on average by 4.6%, 3.5% and 3.6% (E2E SPSNR-NN, RA-configuration) in Y, U, V, respectively.
