JVET-AP0144 EE1-related: Statistics on multilayer frame level RDO using DCVC-RT [M. Aderdor, T. Solovyev, E. Alshina (Huawei), F. Urban, F. Galpin, E. François (InterDigital)]

This contribution includes information about the multilayer framework used for EE1-4.2, as well as statistics on encoder choices when deciding to insert a DCVC-RT I-frame using frame level RDO.

The statistics include overall, per class, per QP and per sequence statistics. Some biases can be observed. It should be noted that residual coding and in-loop filtering are not considered for the E2E I-frames during RDO. This additional refinement could influence encoder choices on which frame to insert as an I-frame.

It is proposed to make the functionality of frame level switching from EE1-4.2 available on NNVC 17.

Software was already included from EE results.

The QP dependent results seem to indicate that this AI based codec was optimized for a certain QP range.
