Crosscheck of JVET-AM0114 (EE1-3.1: RA/LDB Unified Reference Frame Synthesis for VVC Inter Coding)
Abstract
This contribution reports the crosscheck results of JVET-AM0114, EE1-3.1 [1]. JVET-AM0114 integrates the proposed unified reference frame synthesis for enhancing coding performance of both RA and LDB configurations in NNVC, named URFS, which was originally reported in JVET-AK0077 [2] into the latest NNVC-13.0 anchor. The previous URFS model presented in JVET-AL0105 [3] used the datasets of BVI-AOM and BVI-DVC for training. In the current contribution JVET-AM0114, URFS makes use of the vimeo-90K dataset for training. The bug that was present on the decoder side of RA configuration in previous contributions can reportedly be fixed if the GOP structure in the NNVC-13.0 encoder profile is replaced with the structure in NNVC-4.0.
