This document is a cross-check report of contribution JVET-R0359 on Illustration of the film grain characteristics SEI message for VVC. It is reported that the VTM8 software implementation proposed in JVET-R0359 has been checked, and that the VTM8 simulation results match those reported in JVET-R0359 for the 5 proposed test configurations. The cross-checker also reports partial visual checking confirming a benefit from using film grain for the test sequence proposed in JVET-R0359, especially at low and medium bitrates.
