AHG9: Weighted prediction syntax cleanup
Abstract
In VVC draft 8, when weighted bi-prediction is enabled and pred_weight_table syntax is signalled as part of PH syntax structure inside a slice header, weighted prediction parameters for list 1 are unnecessarily signalled for P slices. Two methods are proposed in this contribution. In the first method, when picture_header_in_slice_header_flag is equal to 1, regardless of the value of wp_info_in_ph_flag, pred_weight_table syntax structure is signaled in slice header, but not as part of picture_header syntax structure. In the second method, an encoder constraint is proposed to disallow both picture_header_in_slice_header_flag and wp_info_in_ph_flag being equal to 1.
