AHG12/AHG9: On signalling of rectangular slices
Abstract
In the 17th JVET meeting in Brussels the signalling of rectangular slices have been modified to infer the slice address of the first slice and the size of the last slice in picture. Other alternatives have also been discussed, which included inferring the starting address of the last slice in picture, which has not been adopted due to the complexity of the inference. The present contribution proposes to infer the width and height of the slices (in number of tiles) in a very straightforward manner, when the slice is at the right or bottom boundary of the picture. It is asserted that the inference is achieved without additional computational complexity.
