AhG 9: Removed Redundant Coding of Chroma Deblocking Filter Parameters
Abstract
In JVET-Q2001, the chroma related HLS elements are coded depending on the variable ChromaArrayType. When it is zero, all chroma tools are deactivated and chroma syntax shall not be coded. However, the chroma deblocking filter parameters are coded at PPS, PH and SH regardless of ChromaArrayType. This leads to redundant coding as well as inconsistency with the rest of the design. This contribution proposes to remove this redundant coding by conditioning the presence of these parameters on ChromaArrayType.
