CE3-2.5: Residual coding selection signaling for lossless coding
Abstract
This contribution reports the results of Core Experiment (CE) 3-2.5 [1]. In this CE test, three subtests are proposed to select regular residual coding (RRC) or transform-skip residual coding (TSRC) at low-level since the cu_transquant_bypass_mode is not used in CE. In the first test, CU level flag is signaled to indicate which residual coding scheme is selected signaling is performed at the beginning of a coding unit. In the second test, TB level is signaled to indicate which residual coding scheme is selected. In the third test, an alternative CU level flag is signaled in cu_residual function instead of the beginning of coding unit after signaling root CBF.
