CE3-1.3: Using RRC for lossless coding without state transition
Abstract
This contribution reports the results of Core Experiment (CE) 3-1.3 [1]. In this CE test, two subtests are proposed to enable 1-bit high level syntax to select regular residual coding (RRC) or transform-skip residual coding (TSRC) since the cu_transquant_bypass_mode is not used in CE and the CE mandate. In the first test, one PPS flag and one slice flag are added to indicate which residual coding scheme is selected with VTM7[2]. In the second test, one syntax in picture header is added to indicate which residual coding scheme is selected and implemented in VTM7.1 [3].
