Development of a VVC Live Software Decoder

Abstract
The VVC standard reached the committee draft stage at the 15th JVET Meeting in Gothenburg. As the standard is slowly maturing, Fraunhofer HHI started the development of a Live Software Decoder for the upcoming VVC standard. The project is set to be ready shortly after the standard finalization providing an optimized VVC Software Live Decoder for applications requiring live decoding. Currently, the HHI software decoder is compatible with VTM version 4.2, with work in progress to get up-to date with the current development. It can provide live 60fps HD and 30fps UHD decoding on modern mobile x86 platforms.
