JVET-P0502 AHG18: Interaction between lossless coding and max transform size [X. Zhao, X. Li, S. Liu (Tencent)]

In AHG18, coding tools for lossless and near-lossless coding are being studied for VVC. The initial VTM-6 based SW supporting lossless coding mode has been released through JVET reflector, and the changes include a configuration on setting maximum transform size to be 32x32 because 64-length transform cannot guarantee lossless coding. In this contribution, it is proposed to avoid redundant signalling of lossless coding flag if transform size is greater than 32.

This was determined not relevant as there will not be something as a “lossless coding flag”.
