In the last JVET meeting, PROF was adopted with the merit of similar optical flow operations required by BDOF. Enabling and disabling PROF is signalled in SPS. Therefore, it lacks flexibility to disable it for different pictures/slices. In addition, BDOF can be disabled in slice level with a flag signalled in slice header. In this contribution, it is proposed to use the same slice level flag to control the usage of BDOF and PROF. It is reported that there are no performance changes under the common test conditions.
