CE7-related: Interleaved coefficient coding for transform-skip mode
Abstract
This contribution presents 3 methods of reducing the number of passes when encoding transform-skip coefficients. Instead of encoding the abs_level_gtX_flags(X = 2,3,4,5) of a coding group (CG) as 4 separate bit-planes, the method 1 combines all the components except the abs_remainder into a single pass, and the method 2 combines all the components including abs_remainder the into a single pass and the method 3 combines GTX(X=2,3,4,5) and parity into a single pass. Compared to VTM-5.0 with the bugfix introduced in [4], the performance of the proposed method is summarized as follows:
