Abstract
In current VVC [1], bi-predicted 4*16, 16*4, 4*8 and 8*4 coding units (CU) and uni-predicted 4*4 CUs require much higher memory bandwidth than 8*8 bi-predicted CUs. This contribution provides the results of disabling inter-prediction for 4*4 CUs and bi-prediction for 4*N and N*4 CUs. It is reported that:
