CE3: Results of Test CE3-1.8 on multiple model LM using piecewise linear model.
Abstract
At the 13th JVET meeting in Marrakech, a new method was proposed to perform the multiple-model linear mode using straight lines. This goes through the definition of a knee point between the two lines, derived from the luma and chroma sample averages and extremum points. The method only operates on larger blocks to not affect the linear model worst case. The present contribution reports the results for two different sets of block size constrains.
