CE3-3.1.1: Unified MPM list generation
Abstract
The current contribution document reports the result of the CE test CE3-3.1.1. A unified 6-MPM (Most Probable Mode) list generation is proposed and tested. Compared to VTM4.0, the proposal achieve 0.08% coding gain in AI, with 101% encoding and decoding time.
JVET-N0184 CE3-3.1.1: Unified MPM list generation with changed order to include tools such as MRL, intra sub-partition coding, etc. [B. Wang, A. M. Kotra, S. Esenlik, H. Gao, J. Chen (Huawei), L. Li, J. Heo, J. Choi, S. Yoo, J. Lim, S. Kim (LGE)]

This contribution reports a result of CE3-2.1.3 (a combination of CE3-2.1.1 and CE3-2.2). It is reported that the overall BD-rate loss is 0.02 % / 0.37 % / 0.49 % in IO, 0.06 % / 0.46 % / 0.62 % in RA, 0.04 %/ 0.44 % / 0.42 % in LDB.

It is noted that the result of CE3-2.1.1 (dual tree restriction) and CE3-2.1.3 (a combination of dual tree restriction and parallel prediction) is the same in IO configuration.
