CE4-related: Motion compression for HMVP buffers and MV line buffer
Abstract
This contribution proposes to utilize the same mantissa-exponent representation for temporal motion vector predictors (TMVPs) to reduce the number of bits stored in the history motion vector predictor (HMVP) buffers and motion vector (MV) line buffer. With motion compression for regular merge HMVP buffer and intra block copy (IBC) HMVP buffer, in total 320 bits are reduced. With motion compression for MV line buffer, 32 bits are reduced per 4x4 luma block, and 30720 bits are reduced in case of 4K video. Results are summarized as follows.
