CE13: Intra prediction and in-loop filters using spherical neighbors, and geometry padding (Test 7.8.a)
Abstract
This contribution reports the experiment results of Test 7.8.a in CE13: Intra prediction using spherical neighbors, geometry padding of reference pictures, and all in-loop filters using spherical neighbors. The simulation results reportedly show that, in terms of end-to-end WS-PSNR-Y/U/V, Test 7.8.a achieves the average -1.98%/-2.51%/-2.19% and -1.67%/-2.95%/-2.78% BD-rate saving compared to PHEC and HEC, respectively, while the seam artifacts caused by face discontinuities are also noticeably reduced.
