CE9.1.6: DMVR with Constrained Motion Vector Storage
Abstract
In the 11th JVET meeting, the Core Experiment 9 (Decoder Side Motion Vector Derivation) was established in JVET-K1029 to study the performance impact on the DMVR when constrained motion vector storage is applied on top of BMS-2.1 software. This test introduces a constraint on Decoder-side Motion Vector Refinement to prohibit using refined motion vectors (MVs) for MV prediction and boundary strength (BS) calculation in deblocking filter. Refined MVs can be taken only for motion compensation, but not for any other usage. Experiments were conducted on top of VTM anchors (BMS-2.1rc1 w/ VTM cfg.) with Random Access configuration. The performance results are summarized as follows.
