CE13: HEC with face row based geometry padding using projection with bilinear interpolation (Test 3.1.b)
Abstract
This contribution reports simulation results of CE13 test 3.1.b. For inter prediction, geometry padding of reference pictures is used to pad each face row instead of using repetitive padding at the picture boundaries. Bilinear interpolation is applied for the luminance and chrominance components. Results based on end-to-end WS-PSNR show that HEC with intra prediction disabled across face discontinuities provides {Y, U, V} BD-rate savings of {-1.60%, -1.11%, -1.16%} and {-1.29%, -1.56%, -1.76%} over PHEC and HEC, respectively, for VTM configuration.
