This contribution reports the results of Core Experiment 1.1.0.19 (CE1.1.0.19). The proposed method modifies the context modeling scheme for entropy coding the coding unit (CU) split decisions. The proposed method reportedly reduces the total number of contexts by 7 and only needs to access two spatial neighboring CUs for context selection. The proposed method reportedly leads to 0.01%, 0.01%, 0.04% luma BD-rates for the AI, RA, and LB settings, respectively, under the VTM-1.0 CTCs (with all BMS tools off). The proposed method reportedly leads to 0.01%, 0.02%, -0.03% luma BD-rates for the AI, RA, and LB settings, respectively, under the BMS-1.0 CTCs (with all BMS tools on).
