CE9.3: Template matching from J0022 (Test 9.3.4 and 9.3.5)
Abstract
This contribution reports the results of Template matching described in JVET-J0022 [1], implemented in the JVET VTM-1.0 and the BMS-1.0. The proposed unilateral candidates’ removal and AMVP candidates’ limitation gives, in the VTM code, an average luma BD-rate gain of -6.57% in RA configuration and -3.39% in LDB configuration, for 71% and 119% encoder, and 195% and 127% decoder complexity increase respectively. In the BMS code, it leads to an average luma BD-rate gain of -3.65% in RA and -2.76% in LDB, for 33% and 66% encoder, and 73% and 86% decoder complexity increase respectively.
