CE4: Affine motion compensation with fixed sub-block size (Test 1.1)
Abstract
This contribution reports the results of affine motion compensation with fixed the sub-block size 4x4 (test a) and 8x8 (test b), compared with the adaptive sub-block size for affine in BMS1.0. For test a, negligible coding gain is achieved with around 1% decoding time increase. For test b, simulation results reportedly show on average 0.60%/0.48% luma BD-rate drop with 5%/7% encoding time and 6%/4% decoding time reduction in RA/LB configurations when compared to VTM with affine on, and 0.54%/0.36% luma BD-rate drop with 0%/2% encoding time and 1%/3% decoding time reduction in RA/LB configurations when compared to BMS1.0.
