This contribution presents coefficient coding method described in CE7[1] subtest 1.3. Scan region-based coefficient coding scheme was first introduced in CfP response JVET-J0024[2]. A rectangular region to be scanned is signaled by a coordinate in a TU. Only coefficients in the scan region are considered to be coded by significant flag, GT1flag, GT2flag and remaining level. Proposed coefficient coding scheme outperforms coefficient coding of VTM on average -0.92% BD-rate and -0.49% BD-rate in AI and RA configurations respectively. Compared to coefficient coding of BMS, only 0.1% BD-rate loss in AI and RA is observed with 27 less context models.
