CE13: Modified Cubemap Projection in JVET-J0019 (Test 5)
Abstract
This contribution reports the experiment results of test 5 in CE13: the Modified Cubemap Projection (MCP) with and without padding. Compared to the VTM anchor, the simulation results reportedly show that, in terms of end-to-end WS-PSNR-Y, WS-PSNR-U, and WS-PSNR-V, MCP without padding achieves the average -11.73%, -7.42%, and -7.72% BD-rate reduction, respectively. For MCP with padding, the results report the average -11.56%, -7.58%, and -8.01% BD-rate reduction in terms of end-to-end WS-PSNR-Y, WS-PSNR-U, and WS-PSNR-V, respectively, while the seam artifact is significantly reduced.
