CE3: Mode dependent de-ringing filter (Test 2.8.2)
Abstract
This contribution reports test results for CE3 test 2.8.2 of de-ringing filter for reference samples of intra prediction. It is reported that this technique provides 0.40% and 0.22% of luma BD-rate saving with the encoding time of 116% and 103% for AI and RA configurations, respectively, and no change in decoding time compared to VTM1.0. Compared to BMS 1.0 the proposed technique provides 0.40% and 0.17% luma BD-rate saving with the encoding time of 115% and 105% for AI and RA configurations, respectively, and no change in decoding time. It was observed that for screen content sequences (Class F) in AI configuration de-ringing filter provides 0.82% and 1.00% compared to VTM1.0 and BMS1.0 anchors respectively.
