JVET-AN0048 AHG4: teleconference on VVC multilayer testing [P. de Lagrange (InterDigital)]
This document summarizes discussions during teleconferences on visual assessment for verification testing of VVC multi-layer, conducted by JVET AHG4 between the 39th meeting (Daejeon, KR, 26 June – 4 July 2025) and the 40th meeting (Geneva, CH, 3–12 October 2025). Offline continuation work is also reported.
Was presented in JVET as preliminary report about verification testing with quality ladder using spatial scalability.
Target MOS approx. 4/6/8.
Planned to test single-layer VTM versus multi-layer VTM with spatial scalability, 2x upsampling for UHD, 1.5x for HD. Same bitrate base/enhancement layer in UHD, 2/3 vs. 1/3 base/enhancement in HD.
Enhancement layer rate matched with single layer.
DCR test, expert viewing sessions planned for Saturday morning.
