JVET-AJ0069 AHG9: On specifying the output order of GFV-generated pictures [L. Chen, O. Chubach, Y.-W. Huang, S. Lei (MediaTek)]

This contribution proposes to relax the increment range of the gfv_cnt value in the GFV SEI messages in a picture unit to enable indication of a possible temporal gap between the two consecutive GFV-generated pictures corresponding to the GFV SEI messages in a picture unit. The proposed texts essentially enable indication of output smoothness in addition to output order of the GFV-generated pictures.

A question was raised about the usefulness of knowing about a gap. It is noted that other aspects of the video coding layer, e.g. POC, do not provide information about gaps, and timing can be determined in the systems layer.

No action was taken on this.
