Current CTC does not include 8K HDR sequences. In this contribution, three 8K HDR sequences recorded for the CCTV New Year’s Gala provided by the China Media Group (CMG) and Academy of Broadcasting Planning, NRTA, are tested with ECM, VTM and HM. The sequences have complex object motion, camera motion or background change. As targeting at broadcasting application, Random Access configuration is used. Test results show that the coding efficiency improvement of ECM-11.0 over VTM-11.0ecm11 is around 15.6% averaged across the three sequences, which is roughly half of the coding efficiency improvement of VTM-11.0ecm11 over HM18.0 under JVET Common Test Conditions (CTC).
