JVET-AG0332 AHG9: Test material for the multi-plane image information SEI message [W. Husak, S. McCarthy, T. Lu (Dolby)] [late]

This contribution provides information for test material for testing of the multi-plane image information SEI message described in the TuC for future extensions of VSEI.

Only one sequence. Using it would require signing a license agreement with Dolby. Would not be possible to provide it via JVET ftp.

It was commented that the license agreement would allow Dolby to modify the content

The functionality could also be tested with MIV content, but that has higher number of texture layers (64, whereas this has 16).

It was commented that for MIV testing, usually also a “pose trace” is provided.

Modified MIV content (with only 16 layers, such that it can be used with MPI) is available for download, and the link is included in the software package. This is also only one sequence.

It was commented that using only one or two sequences to investigate the benefit of a technology may be not sufficient.

Add a mandate to AHG9 about discussing the testing of MPI, and prepare a viewing at Rennes, and coordinate with the MIV AHG of WG 4 how it could be compared to corresponding MIV coded content.
