JVET-AE0061 [AHG9] On NNPFC Application Purpose [S. Deshpande (Sharp)]

Item 1 was discussed in JVET on Friday July 14.

Some modifications are proposed to the Neural-Network Post-Filter Characteristics SEI Message related to the application determined purpose. The following is proposed:

• Proposal 1: It is proposed to signal a new syntax element nnpfc_application_purpose_tag_uri when nnpfc_purpose is equal to 0 (i.e. when the NNPF may be used as determined by the application) to provide more details about the application-specific purpose.

It was commented that the presence of the nnpfc_application_purpose_tag_uri syntax element should be gated by a flag, to allow future extensions.

Decision: Include in “TuC for VSEI”, with an additional flag.
