This contribution reports the simulation results of EE2 Test 1.3. In Test 1.3, two modifications are proposed to directional planar modes where only the horizontal interpolation or only the vertical interpolation are used to obtain the predicted samples: 1) a decoder-side gradient based derivation method is proposed to decide which of the horizontal planar mode and the vertical planar mode is used. 2) the propagated modes of the two new planar modes are modified when deriving transform kernel. It is reported that on top of ECM-7.0, the overall coding performance impact for {Y, U, V, EncT, DecT} is {-0.06%, 0.00%, 0.00%, 107%, 100%} for AI and {-x.xx%, -x.xx %, -x.xx %, xxx%, xxx%} for RA.
